Objective monitoring of cognitive impairment by amyloid image analysis
This project proposes the development of a PET system that incorporates new algorithms of classification that allow the analysis of β-amyloid as a mechanism to analyze the effectiveness of the drugs tested. The following elements will be developed:
- Automatic classification algorithms of PET images, generated by β.-amyloid tracers, applied to Alzheimer’s disease
- CADx (Computer Aided Diagnostic) clinical software, according to the international normative medical device software for IEC 62304, for use by Medical personnel in the automated diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Development of a head movement compensation / immobilization system of the patient to facilitate PET image acquisition of the brain.
- Development of new PET image reconstruction algorithms (including compensation of movement if required), adapted to the use of multi-core graphics processors (GPUs)
- Design and development of a brain PET prototype unit.
- Validation of the system.
